Blendr is a location based, chat-to-meet app which seeks to connect individuals to "the fun singles closest to you". The app is free to join and use, although there is a subscription service available for access to extra features.
Why is it a risk?
Although Blendr has previously been described (worryingly) as one of the top dating apps used by teenagers, it is an adult platform and not a suitable place for children to communicate. Due to the app's focus on location and the user's appearance, this app can be highly risky. People can literally see the faces of other users in a particular location, and can also zoom in on a particular user's location if they are interested. Further there is no information verification system, and so it is impossible to be completely assured of a person's true identity until met in person.
